Cross-Country Ski Cook Forest: Chamberlin’s Loop

Please bring your cross country skis and meet at the Log Cabin Inn Environmental Learning Classroom for a 4-mile interpretive cross-country ski trip to Indian Springs deep within the heart of the Forest Cathedral. This moderately flat loop meanders under ancient hemlocks and passes large ghost American chestnut relics standing since the 1920’s. Come see why this was the preferred hiking route of one of our past long standing Adopt-A-Trail volunteers, Richard Chamberlain.

We will car-pool to the kick-off point at the beginning of Forest Drive.  Skis can be rented at Cooksburg Dry Goods .  If snow conditions are bad, we’ll hike or snowshoe instead.  Hot chocolate and a luke-warm classroom will be available to warm us up.  (3 hrs)
