9am Featured Morning Session: Cook Forest Hike with Adam Haritan from LearnYourLand.com, Log Cabin Learning Center (120 mins)
Join Adam Haritan for an interpretive hike through Cook Forest State Park in search of Pennsylvania’s tallest and oldest trees. Cook Forest is home to dozens of old growth eastern white pine and hemlock trees, many over 300 years old and towering above 140 feet in height. Participants will learn the natural history of Cook Forest State Park, including old growth forest characteristics, wild plant and tree identification, edible and medicinal plants, wild mushroom identification, and more. Additionally, participants will have the chance to see the Longfellow Pine — tallest known tree in the entire Northeastern United States!  We will begin the walk at the Log Cabin Inn Environmental Learning Classroom, and the program will entail moderate hiking conditions.

RustyOrner4:30pm Featured Workshop: Shiitake and Oysters with Rusty Orner from Quiet Creek Herb Farm, Meeting Room (120 mins)
Discover the key concepts of growing, harvesting, preserving, cooking, and medicating with Shiitake and Oyster Mushrooms. Work with Rusty Orner in learning Quiet Creek’s secrets from 15 years of experience. Take away knowledge and appreciation of mushrooms and your own shiitake tincture for healing and preventing diseases.

7:30pm Dinner in Dining Room with Live Entertainment by “Squirrel Hillbillies”
Brussel Sprout Salad to start, Apple Hickory Smoked Chicken with Sweet Potato and Seasonal Vegetables, and Vegan Chocolate Cake for Dessert. Coffee, Herbal Teas, and Iced Tea offered. (Vegan Hearts of Palm “Crab” Cakes with Fries is an entree substitute available upon prior request)

8am Featured Morning Session: Meditation with Gary Crouth, Meeting Room (60 mins)
Gary Crouth has been practicing Zen meditation for 18 years. Gary currently teaches meditation to inmates at the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh. During this informal introduction to meditation you will receive instruction on how to meditate in the Soto Zen style. Then you will put this instruction into practice as we meditate together in chairs for a short period of time. You will have the opportunity to discuss your experience and explore questions.
